Flower Market is the answer for people who love what MacKenzie-Childs does and do not want checks. It is a hand-painted floral, loose and slightly overgrown rather than neat, and it carries the same studio signature as the check collections: painted by hand in upstate New York, signed by the artist, no two pieces identical.

It also plays well with the checks rather than against them. Several Flower Market pieces carry a check border, so a table that mixes Flower Market with Courtly Check or Royal Check reads as one collection rather than two. If you already own checks and want to add something without starting over, this is the collection that does it.

The colorways

Flower Market comes in several colorways, of which White is by far the deepest and the most reliably available. Black, Green and the other colors appear in smaller runs and sell through faster, so if you are building a set that needs to be completed later, White is the safer foundation. Mixing colorways is entirely workable if you would rather not match, and the pattern is forgiving that way.

Where to start

Serving pieces are the strength here, because a floral has more room to show itself on a large surface than on a mug. The Pedestal Platter and the Large Compote are the pieces that make a table look considered, and the Abundant Bowl and Serving Platter do the same work at everyday scale.
